Indochine Kitchen- Alternative to Phnom Penh?

Have you been to Phnom Penh in Vancouver?  If you haven't yet and you like to eat chicken wings, please do go visit them for their fried wings.  They may not give the best service but their wings are so delicious!

When I heard that Indochine Kitchen is opened by a relative of the owner of Phnom Penh, I had to go try their wings.  A friend also recommended it as well as recommended the lychee mojito!  I loved the mojito but the wings at Indochine was a little disappointing.  It lacks the flavour, plus I enjoy gnawing on the wing tip, which they did not have here.  This place has the feel of a lounge rather than a restaurant.  It's very modern and pretty but for the food, I do rather eat at the original location.  The luc lac was also disappointing.  It was very...dry..and the cut of beef is different than Phnom Penh.  It's more like thick chunks of beef versus strips of soft succulent beef at Phnom Penh.  lol.  The butter beef was good, tasted almost identical!

I would come back here if I felt like having a drink and munching, will not come back for dinner.

Diner- The Red Wagon

Finally stopped by The Red Wagon with some friends for brunch.  Loved it so much I went back for lunch the week after and had the same thing.
Location:  2296 East Hastings Street  Vancouver, BC V5L 1V4
Phone: (604) 568-4565

we sat at the bar
The place is kinda cramped and small...reminds me of a dirtier version of Save on Meats.  Well perhaps like a Save on Meats prior to renovations..lol..but it is diner food..no biggie.

Food was delicious and I am definitely going back to try the eggs benedict.  First visit I had the Super Trucker- 2 eggs(sunny side up), potatoes, toast, pan fried pork belly, pancake with pulled pork and optional Jack Daniels syrup.  My friend had the same but with scrambled eggs.  My other friend had pancakes and sausages.

I do recommend this restaurant if have not tried it yet.  Remember to go early if you do, as line ups start half an hour after the restaurant opens.  ;)

Let me know how you like it!

Save On Meats Diner

Finally was able to stop by Save On Meats the diner.  I was eager to try it for the longest time after its renovation but never seemed to get the time.  Plus not all my friends are comfortable in that particular neighborhood.  This place was gooood! :)
Note: The sets of photos are taken with a phone and are not of the best quality.

I tried it with my friend who is more food adventurous than my other friends.  :)  We each had a burger with fries and a drink.  The burger combo is $6.00CAD!!  So cheap for downtown food!  YUM~
beer on the tap!
Bottomless cola
$6.00CAD Burger and fries!
This place left a good impression on my mind so I went back another day to try some other things on the menu.  This time I chose to eat the fried chicken and mashed potatoes and my bf tried the ribs with a side of chocolate milkshake.  Both entrees tasted like home cooked food...it brought me back to when I was a kid and ate at my friend's house...mmmm...*droool*

Bluenotes, Garage and Sephora

Stopped by Queensborough Landing to check out some sales and saw this cute tee at Garage!  I went in to pick up 2 tank tops-basics(black and white) and saw that tee shirt.  It was marked as $16.00CAD from $18.00CAD which I thought was ridiculous and NOT a deal at all..LOL...it was in the $10.00CAD wall so I grabbed it along with my tank tops and decided to ask the cashier how much the tee shirt was...if it is $10.00CAD then I will buy it..it turned out to be $5.00CAD so I bought it..  :)
I was saying to my bf there should be a tee that says "today i love you less" LOL
cute cute cute!

Also went to Bluenotes the other day and saw these adorable dresses!  They are corset looking dresses that look expensive but were only $15.00CAD a piece.  I picked up a pink/red leopard print one and a black one.
