Review of House of Tofu Soup- Richmond, BC

Ate at the House of Tofu Soup a while back but never got the time to post up my pictures.  I love this place and I think my friends enjoy it tooooo..hurrah for introducing!

Basically you can choose a meal which includes a soup and a meat dish for $14.99CAD or you can order a soup by itself or meat dish by itself for about $9.99CAD.  You choose a type of meat: beef, chicken or pork or you can have veggie and you can also choose the level of spiciness!  There are other appetizers and other things on the menu but prefer the bubbling hot soup! :D  When the soup comes you can crack an egg they have provided into it and watch it cook...drooool..They pour the barley tea into the left over crusted rice pot and yummmmm..my bf doesn't like it but I doooooo.  The 반찬 banchan's here is different than the other Korean restaurants I have tried.  I never had the mashed potato before..I thought it was ice cream at first..lol  I have also tried the bibim noodle 비빔국수 and I like that a lot too.  It's getting cold now, so I will stick with the soups!

I recommend this restaurant if you are in the neighborhood! Lots of inexpensive yummy food!

Bluenotes and Daiso- Random Shopping

Stopped by Bluenotes as bf wanted to check out their teeshirts.  I walked around and I picked up a chiffon tee in mint.  The colour reminds me of the scrubs nurses wear at the hospitals...hmmmm....I do like the lace detailing on the sleeves though!  Plus it wasn't too expensive, $12.00CAD, they sell stuff like this at Aritzia for over $50.00CAD+ no?  I bought a size medium and thought it would be baggy, I was wrong...it fits just right...I guess that's okay too but that's not the look I thought it would give.  This shows that perhaps I need to learn to try things on..  :P

Was walking around Daiso in Aberdeen Centre in Richmond looking for some baskets for storage and saw this cute hand towel.  I couldn't resist and bought it as well..lol

Man Ri Sung, Richmond BC - Duck Feast

the owner/chef cutting our duck
Went to eat Peking duck at Man Ri Sung as recommended from a foodie coworker!  They serve this duck feast for 4 people for the price of $58.95CAD and I went there with my 8 friends and ordered 2 ducks.  You have to call at least 2 hours before hand for them to prepare the duck.  The owner is also the chef of the restaurant and he is quite chatty.  Apparently he is Korean and he went to Beijing to study how to prepare some Chinese cuisines and one of the items is the Peking duck.  He prepares it slightly different than the traditional way, instead of just skin you get meat along with the wrap.   We ordered the 잡채(Jap Chae) and the 순대(blood sausage) and the hot pot to come with the duck.  You can choose either hot pot with hand made fresh 刀削面(knife cut noodles) with the remaining duck after he slices most of the meat off. or duck congee.  We chose 2 hot pots.  All 9 of us couldn't finish the 2 duck courses and everything was delish! We didnt really eat all of the hot pot as it was a hot day and we were all sweating due to the heat. The hot pot would have been better in the winter or on a colder day..lol.

I love this place and I would definitely come back.  The only con I feel about this is that they hardly speak English here, you have to either speak Korean or Mandarin....they do speak some English, but keep it simple!

Candyland- Chips, candy and mints~

Went to Candyland to stock up on my mints and chips.  I really like the Hong Kong Calbee chips, especially in BBQ flavour.  I was also looking for my baby packs of instant noodle snack but they didnt have any so I bought an alternative(the pink bag of noodle with that little Asian girl on it).  I saw the Popin Cookin Candy in the sushi edition and I finally ended up buying it.  I will take photos of the process after I open it.  :D  Candyland also carries the donut version, the bento box version, the instant noodle/gyoza version and the ice cream version.  I bought the sushi version because I thought this one would be the most fun.  I did want to try the instant noodle/gyoza version but the liquid in the noodle seemed weird...lol
There are 2 locations of Candyland here, one in Burnaby and one in Richmond.  The one in Burnaby is located in Crystal Mall and the one in Richmond is located in Aberdeen Centre.
